Gambia: Ministry Projects 900, 000 Tourist Arrivals By 2020

 

Destination Gambia is committed to increase the number of its tourism arrival to 900, 000 by the year 2020, the minister of Tourism and Culture has projected. Making the projection Wednesday during the commissioning of nine extra new security posts within the Tourism Development Area (TDA), Fatou Mass Jobe-Njie hastened to stress the need for all and sundry to work towards the improvement of standards and service delivery across the broad spectrum of the tourism industry if the attainment of this lofty goal is anything to go by.

Gambia: Tourism Minister Launches Camp Africa in UK

 

As part of her recent engagements in the United Kingdom during the just concluded World Market Tourism in London, The Gambia's Tourism and Culture minister had also launched Camp Africa on the margins of that occasion. Camp Africa is an innovative project dedicated to fostering sustainable development activities by using responsible tourism principles in The Gambia. The platform implements this through bringing together local, regional and international students and academics to learn through integration, inclusion and cross-cultural dialogue.

Gambia: National Fisheries Platform Established

 

The Department of Fisheries in collaboration with the National Sole Fishery Co-management Committee (NASCOM) on Sunday established the National Fisheries Platform at a meeting held at the Laico Atlantic Hotel in Banjul. The National Fisheries Platform is an initiative from Senegal known as Alliance for Sustainable Fisheries of Senegal and is meant to organize the national resource sectors in the form of an alliance to coordinate activities of the fisheries sector through harmonising policies.

IT IS AN UNWRITTEN RULE that every cruise up an African river must have a Greater Purpose–some guy named Kurtz to chase after, a lost explorer to rescue, a legendary city of gold to loot, some palpable goal to lure you ever onward into regions where you might not otherwise venture. My partner Carie and I by now had spent nearly two weeks cruising up the Gambia in my old Alberg 35 yawl and decided finally we had two of these: we wanted to see a hippopotamus and we wanted to attend a dance.

Oyo, Gambia to establish relationship in Agriculture, tourism

Governor Abiola Ajimobi while receiving The Gambia High Commissioner to Nigeria, Angela Colley, who paid him a courtesy call in his office, observed that both countries had come a long way in mutual relationship culturally, politically and business-wise. According to Ajimobi, we share so many commonalities politically, in terms of business and even in virtually all spheres of lives.

Gambia: 240 Polish Tourists Arrives in the Smiling Coast

The Minister of Tourism and Culture, Fatou Mass Jobe-Njie at the weekend received Canaria Boeing, a Poland aircraft, at the Banjul International Airport with 240 tourists from Poland. The Minister was accompanied by senior government officials from her Ministry, GTBoard, journalists and other stakeholders to receive the tourists.

Gambia: GTBoard, Rlg Clean Beaches for Tourists' Attraction

The Gambia Tourism Board (GTB) in collaboration with stakeholders such as RLG, over the weekend embarked on a massive beach cleaning exercise. The beach cleaning exercise was designed to harness the service of stakeholders committed to the cleanliness of the beaches with a view to protecting their coastlines as well as making the beaches attractive for better tourism.
