Entrepreneurship is the act of starting a new business where there was none, in an effort to transform innovations into economic gains. An entrepreneur is a person who raises new ideas and possibilities, regarding old things from a new angle and unites all means of products to create goods and services. Entrepreneurship has created employment, self-sufficiency and wealth for many people and groups globally. It is ideally important for young Gambians to take part in such ventures, for it is enterprises that can enormously contribute to research and development, self-employment and bring all, great prospects in life.
There are now several institutions in the country that offer entrepreneurship training for young people.

Once again, the drive to improve The Gambia's energy sector has been given another boost. The acquisition of a US$31.9M grant from ECOWAS for our energy sector could not have come at a better time. Problems of electricity supply are becoming history in this country.
While most people in the country nowadays experience a 24-hour electricity supply, with a corresponding increase in the number of street lights, it is important that we strive towards consolidating and strengthening what we have.

The fourth edition of the Queen of Companies beauty pageant will be held at the Sun Swing Hotel (former Jerma Beach Hotel) on Friday the 13th December, 2013. Ten contestants who will represent different companies are expected to participate in this year's event.

The first bird I spotted in my compound in Lamin was surprise surprise a Malachite Kingfisher sitting on the washing line gazing down upon this dripping tap and the tiny pool of water that was forming as a result. There was obviousely a well organised qeuhoo for the littyle pond the first of which seemed to be a pair of Beautiful Sunbirds dangling acrobatically on to the tap in turn.

The legal requirements for the presentation of the government of The Gambia budget to the National Assembly are specified in the 1997 Constitution, and the Budget Management and Accountability Act of 2004. Section 152 (1) of the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia also requires the president to instruct the minister of Finance and Economic Affairs to prepare and submit to the National Assembly, at least 30 days before the end of each financial year, the estimates of revenues and expenditures of The Gambia for the following year

A group of investors from the Eastern European nation of Poland recently met with their Gambian counterparts to explore business opportunities in the country. At a business forum organised in Bijilo by The Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and The Gambia Export Investment Promotion Agency (GIEPA), the Polish investors were presented with the opportunities that can be explored in the country in the different areas of economic development.
